Margot Bergman has been an artist all her life, working in many media, always seeking to give outer form to subjective comprehension and feeling. Art has been a vehicle of self-knowledge and personal growth.

Her present paintings focus on the lifestyle of herself and her friends as they try to live in harmony with nature, celebrating the sustainable pleasures of a spiritually-linked community. Portraiture has always been a constant means of expression and sharing.

Margot Bergman was born in South Carolina (as Pixie Foster), received her B.A. degree at 18 years old from the University of South Carolina, and subsequently lived in Michigan, California, New Mexico, and Virginia. She earned an M.F.A. degree from James Madison University and later taught aesthetics, art appreciation and studio classes there and at Eastern Mennonite University.

She now works with individuals only and devotes part of the year to sailing with her husband, Vitae.
